A ZBrush training channel by Seán Forsyth. This channel is about both beginners introductory videos, and tips for more intermediate to advanced users.
I've created playlists to organize them a bit. So "ZBrush Issues" will cover all those strange things to happen to new users which frustrate their experience, where as "ZBrush Training" is the place to get tips and tutorials. The rest are self-explanatory.
I started this channel as I teach ZBrush a few different places and thought it would be good to have a source of my own material I can refer to when students ask about a certain topic or how to do a certain thing. The class environment is all well and good, but it's always good to be able to return at a later time and review something or go over it again if it's been a while since you learned something.
Anyway, hope you learn something and can use it. Please feel free to ask questions in the comments and I'll do my best to answer them.

Yeah, they appear to have changed how things work and this functionality is now broken.
@@SeanForsythTutorials I guess it has something to do with the Maxon era. This issue breaks all my details, a real deal breaker
@@hgsupertramp Ah they broke it before then when they introduced the white dot which was supposed to help auto calculate resolution, but does a terrible job.
@@SeanForsythTutorials this is really something they should fix and get back. I have wrote emails. so hope others do light up the problem so they fix this issue

how can i deactivate the color without have to go on the menu? the icon beside the eye, I know there is a shortkey for that but I couldn't find it anywhere

Hi , I want to use the spotlight above the existing texture but it doesn’t work. Can you tell me what’s the problem?
Sure, you can't paint on a texture, you'll have to convert that to polypaint first. So, first you need to make sure you have enough polygons on the object to support the resolution you want, then you'll need to go Tools, Polypain and use "Polypaint from Texture". Once that's done, nw you can use Spotlight to paint on the polypaint. Once that's done, you can convert that back to a texture by going to Tools, Texture Map, and using the New from Polypaint option. Hope this helps!

Hi.... i brought in a scale reference of a character(A) from blender to match scale with the one(B) i am doing in zbrush... after i increased the scale of B ( 35 to 177 units) to match A inside zbrush... now the lowest dynamesh resolution of 8 is giving me 2 million points and i am still in the ideation stage and would like the resolution to be below 500,000..... how can i drop the dynamesh res further...thanks
Go to Tools, Deformation, sand use the Size slider to decrease the size 100%. Do this multiple times, then redynamesh, and then use the same slider to increase it by the same multiple.

How can I rotate on the X Axis? I see here you only showed this working with the Z Axis.
Yeah, this was more for a screen space rotation than anything else. Rotating the camera strictly on any given axis iosn't a strong point for ZBrush I'm afraid. It's much, much easier to rotate the object than the camera. If you want to rotate all of the objects, you can press W to go to Move mode, and then press the last icon on the right of the gizmo so that you see 3 little boxes on top of each other. This will then allow you to rotate all of the objects at once using the X axis rotation on the gizmo (make sure to clear any masks on objects first). Hope this helps!

Great post! I recently lost my old config because of the 2024.0.4 version. so Im trying to recreate it. I am noticing that when I relaunch ZB, some of the icons I added to my own menu are now black retangles with no content.
Are they maybe for buttons for features which don't exist in that version?
@SeanForsythTutorials no these are copied buttons such as Save, Autogroups, Dynash, Dynamesher picker, moved active points, etc. I tried saving my own config, which works, but it's not on start, I tried saving it as the store config file, nope.
